We offer EndoFLIP, an advanced diagnostic technology performed during upper endoscopy to provide a detailed, real-time evaluation of esophageal function. A small, fluid-filled balloon is gently positioned across the lower esophagus and stomach junction to measure the diameter, flexibility, and opening of this area, as well as the esophagus’s contraction pattern.
EndoFLIP can provide valuable additional information for patients with difficulty swallowing, food sticking, regurgitation, unexplained chest discomfort, suspected achalasia, or other esophageal motility disorders. It may also help assess esophageal narrowing and stiffness in eosinophilic esophagitis.
Because it is performed during endoscopy, EndoFLIP may allow for a more complete evaluation without requiring a separate procedure. Results are interpreted together with symptoms, endoscopic findings, imaging, and esophageal manometry when appropriate, helping guide a personalized diagnostic and treatment plan.
