Esophageal Manometry
Esophageal Manometry
Esophageal manometry is an invasive test that helps the evaluation of the activity of the esophageal muscles that execute the swallowing process in the esophagus, the tube that connects the esophagus with the stomach. We use a a catheter with a number of sensors that detect and measure all the necessary parameters to assess the swallowing ability of a patient and detect pathology, if any. The useful data we collect help us to guide therapy for the patient who presents with swallowing problems.
